Her Interview
Ten minutes with Tayyaba
01What do you attribute your success to?
I think I've just kept going, even when circumstances weren't ideal. It's just like I never gave up on my dreams. And even if I was faced with failures, I just took them as a challenge, and I just kept moving, I kept pushing forward. I had some mentors that have been extremely helpful. I strongly believe in mentorship, and I do believe in good friends who really encourage you in whatever you believe in, so yeah, that has helped. But it's really just been about believing in myself and my potential way more than what circumstances are deciding before me.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I would say it's just try new things, even if you feel that's fine. It's just about learning and continuing, so there's no you can't achieve anything. It's really just about trying it out. It's just really about you keep on trying new things, and that really helps in your growth. So yeah, it's never just that comfort zone doesn't give you much, but it's more about really experimenting and also getting those opportunities that help you learn and help you grow. And failure is not a thing, it's always leading to something better.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say we're creative, keep learning, don't let failures distract you from your goals. Just keep on believing in yourself and your potential, and just really be out there, and be more vocal, more social, more collaborative about it. Just represent yourself and what you believe, and there's so many things that you do.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Opportunities, well in terms of opportunities, there are plentiful. Like once you are able to develop a use case that can benefit enterprises and definitely can scale it, I see that as an opportunity. But also in terms of the challenge, it would be definitely a challenge upon yourself to keep on learning, because every day there's something new that's happening in the technology realm, so you really have to keep up with the compliance, the regulations, you also have to understand how it's impacting you as an individual in an organization.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In terms of work, I think I strongly believe in teamwork, and in terms of understanding everyone in the team. In terms of my personal life, I believe it's more about giving your best time to your family. Being a single mother, that has been hard, though, but it's important. It's an integral part of a person as an individual. And then just being a leader for your team and whoever you're supporting in the organization at large.
