Her Interview
Ten minutes with Tehreem
01What do you attribute your success to?
I think I've had a great support system, whether it's my family, or now my husband. But I also am just stubborn in that I can't ever see myself working where I don't want to be. I come from a family which is very achievement-oriented, but for me it's like I'll achieve whatever I need to achieve, but I want to do what I love. I want to create things, and I want to be creative, and I own the winding pathway that my career is.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't wait for a job to hone your craft in marketing. You can create a portfolio even without having a job, like analyzing campaigns of brands you like and turning them into interesting pieces in Canva to show you think like a marketer. Figure out what you like about marketing, whether analytics or content creation, but never limit yourself. Keep yourself flexible and be open to learning more because that's the best way to market yourself.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Kindness and empathy are important qualities. The best leaders I've worked with are kind people who care about the people they work with and see that these are actually people with lives outside of their work. That matters way more than being cutthroat.
