Kayla Works, POPM, is an analytical and empathetic leader with over 15 years of experience driving creative solutions through collaboration and generosity. She has a proven track record of managing substantial caseloads in high-pressure environments, leveraging her strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and results-driven approach to optimize company profitability while meeting client needs. Kayla specializes as a Large Employer Group Specialist, overseeing underwriting processes, risk assessments, self-funded and administrative service contracts, and negotiating complex agreements, all while providing technical training and development to her teams.
A passionate advocate for Women in Leadership, Kayla actively advances Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives in her organization. She co-leads the Employee Network "upLIFT," focusing on gender equality, and serves as Vice President for the Little Rock chapter of the National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA), where she promotes professional development and community engagement. Her leadership extends beyond the workplace as she facilitates mentoring programs and helps colleagues develop both professionally and personally.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Kayla holds a significant leadership role within Toastmasters International as the District Program Quality Director for District 63. In this capacity, she drives club growth, member development, and high-quality programming across the district. Committed to fostering learning, growth, and excellence, Kayla combines her strategic insight, organizational expertise, and servant-leadership approach to empower teams and individuals to achieve their fullest potential.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to building strong relationships, staying curious, and being committed to continuous learning. My upbringing taught me resilience and perspective, and throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to have mentors who modeled leadership, collaboration, and trust, which have shaped the way I approach my work and growth.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to lead with confidence while staying open to learning. I was deeply influenced by a manager who empowered our team with autonomy while providing support when needed, teaching me the importance of trust-based leadership.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry is to be confident, ask questions, and embrace what makes you different. I encourage young women to use their unique perspectives as strengths and to never underestimate the value they bring to the table.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in insurance today is overcoming outdated perceptions and making the industry more approachable. At the same time, there’s a tremendous opportunity to humanize insurance through education, innovation, and inclusive leadership that truly reflects the communities we serve.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Authenticity, character, and impact are the values I hold most central in both my work and personal life. I strive to show up fully, treat people with respect, and focus on making meaningful contributions rather than chasing titles or recognition.
