About Teresa
Teresa Flax is a dedicated retail professional and community advocate serving as Lead Front End Supervisor and Retail Coordinator with Compass Group in Evansville, Indiana. With nearly a decade of experience in campus retail operations, Teresa oversees daily functions for a campus convenience store and coffee shop, including inventory management, product ordering, merchandising, advertising, and customer engagement initiatives. Her ability to identify trends, improve operations, and create meaningful experiences for students and customers has helped drive efficiency and satisfaction within her workplace.
Teresa’s career journey reflects determination, growth, and perseverance. She began her professional path as a dishwasher at Trak Tecom and steadily advanced through various roles by demonstrating strong work ethic, leadership, and a commitment to excellence. As a first-generation college graduate, Teresa earned her associate degree in Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies from Ivy Tech Community College and continues to pursue further education toward completing her bachelor’s degree. She credits her success to hard work, persistence, and faith, while remaining committed to leading with authenticity, humility, and genuine care for others.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Teresa is passionate about making a positive impact in her community. She founded “Closet Tees,” a nonprofit mobile clothing initiative created to provide clothing and resources to individuals in need, helping people feel valued and supported. Inspired by her entrepreneurial studies and desire to serve others, Teresa continues to combine business leadership with social responsibility. Through her work, education, and community efforts, she represents resilience, compassion, and the power of creating opportunities for herself and those around her.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to hard work, perseverance, and the determination to never give up, even when faced with challenges. My faith has also been a guiding force, providing me with strength, purpose, and the confidence to continue moving forward.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received was that I have the potential to become a great leader. That encouragement inspired me to believe in my abilities, continue developing my skills, and embrace opportunities to lead, support others, and make a positive impact.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to keep pushing forward and never give up, even when the journey becomes challenging. Have faith in yourself and trust the process. Your dedication, hard work, and perseverance will open doors, and when the right opportunity comes, it will be your time to shine.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are being genuine, respectful, authentic, and humble. I believe in treating others with kindness and respect, staying true to who I am, and leading with humility. These values guide the way I build relationships, approach challenges, and contribute positively to those around me.
