Her Interview

Ten minutes with Teresa

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success I attribute to my mother and father. They instilled the importance of education in all five of us even though they only completed high school themselves. They pushed and challenged me which made me want to strive and learn more. My father taught me to never start something you don't plan to finish.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I received is that I could be whatever I want to be with no limits. If you want to study two or three things then do so and succeed at whatever you put your mind to.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't limit yourself to just one area of expertise. Learn about it, stand in it, and dedicate yourself to it without quitting.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is that children need to be taught to be mannerable and respectful at home first because it carries over when they are away from their parents. It begins at home.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty, integrity, and being able to express myself openly. There is no such thing as a dumb question so never be afraid to ask if you don't understand something.
