About Teresa
Teresa Steffens recently graduated from Duquesne University with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering after completing her degree in three years. Motivated by her family's experiences with cancer, including her father's current diagnosis, she pursued this field to create innovative solutions that help improve people's lives and address ongoing medical challenges. She has completed an internship and is now seeking her first professional role in the medical device industry, with a focus on clinical sales. During her time at Duquesne, she benefited from mentorship by several female professors, including Dr. Williams, through a program supporting women in science.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to resilience. I've never been one to give up, even when facing obstacles and challenges. I learn from my mistakes and experiences, taking them on as lessons, and continue to move forward with motivation and a positive outlook regardless of what has happened in the past. Not letting failures weigh me down is what attributes to my success.
02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The most important values to me are integrity and empathy. As a leader in many environments, it's important to have strong values and be your authentic self no matter the environment, without conforming if it goes against what you believe. Holding empathy for others is very important in networking and building relationships, understanding where people are and how you can work together.
