About Teri
What actually led me into this field is that when I had my daughter, I could feel that I was losing myself within being a mother, simply because I was just moving through the motions. When I talked to other women about the same thing, they experienced the same thing. So I said, okay, this is an area that we need to address. Once I addressed it, I realized that a lot of women held these titles of an entrepreneur, a moneymaker, a caregiver, a mom, a daughter, or whatever, but they didn't really know who they were outside of these specific roles. What I've learned is that these roles are just extensions of who you truly are, but it doesn't make up who you truly are, because seasons change in your life. As seasons change, you may not always be an entrepreneur, or you may not always be a mom of a certain age child. The seasons change, but as the seasons change, sometimes because that season has changed, now you're lost. You shouldn't be lost, because you should always remain who you are, but if you don't know who you are, then that's where you start to kind of lose the clarity. So I decided to create this brand where it literally focused on a woman making herself a priority. By doing that, she focuses on loving who she is internally, as well as who she is externally. So that way, when those seasons change, or when you're carrying those roles, you're able to carry those roles with pride and happiness, but you're aware that it doesn't make up completely who you are - it's just simply an extension.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I would definitely say my daughter. I think that's, like, she's my greatest accomplishment. When I see her, I'm like, you're so much better than me in so many ways, it makes me so happy. My company is actually named after her - it's called RBJ. Simply because, like I said, as an everyday woman, I realized no matter what our background is, no matter how much money we make, we have more similarities than what we believe that we really do. And what I realized is we'll lose ourselves within these roles. So if I didn't really sit down and say that to myself, like, where is this coming from, other women wouldn't experience the same thing. So the way that you kind of help that area is if you have to teach her what you learned late, you have to teach her early. That definitely helps me. And then, you know, as far as with the other women, again, what they've learned late, if you have children or a niece or something, you teach them early. It helps to minimize some of that.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received is, first, if you would do it for free, then that's something that you know that you love doing. Another best career advice I've ever received is never lose yourself. Never be afraid to change. It's okay if you're growing, but make sure that you're listening and you're honoring yourself, because you deserve happiness.
