Her Story

About Terri

Terri Scholting has worked in real estate since starting in 1987. After 38 years in insurance, which she retired from last August, she now dedicates her time fully to real estate. She began her career path by accident with a part-time insurance job after high school, without pursuing college, and advanced by self-teaching through books and literature once she discovered her passion. Terri attributes her success to finding her niche in helping people and maintains that one should not count the dollars but do things for the right reasons and the love of the work. She values her face, reputation, and brand, ensuring they come across positively. In her daily work, she juggles showings, closings, and marketing for properties in areas such as Papillion, Syracuse, and Omaha, Nebraska, thriving on company training sessions, seminars, and summits with motivational speakers. Her advice to others entering the field is to soak up every learning opportunity when passion is found.

Ten minutes with Terri

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think probably just having a passion for what I do. I found my niche in life, I found my passion and love for helping people, and so that's what drives me, and still does.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I've ever received is, You don't count the dollars, you do things For the right reason, and you do it for the love of what you do, and then the rest will happen. It takes care of itself. I don't think of myself as a salesperson, I think of myself as Someone who helps people, and Because of that, I've been successful, and I never have counted dollars.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would recommend, actually, what I did when I started. I started a job that it was a part-time job. And when I knew that I loved it, I just soaked in every bit of learning that I could, and tried to self-teach, whatever I could. I took home books, I took home Literature. I did everything I could to help myself to learn as much as I could. Because I knew it was my passion when I found it by accident.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Opportunities are basically just, I have great opportunities with my company to continue to learn. I thrive on going to everything that they have to offer. I have the time to be able to go to those company training sessions, and they have lots of speakers, they have seminars. We had our first summit, this year, earlier in the year. And we've got some of those coming up. There are some that are out of state. motivational speakers and leaders within the industry. That's those are my opportunities to continue to thrive and do that.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values, I guess. To me, my face, my reputation, my brand. And so I value what I do to make sure that that comes across in a positive way to everybody that I meet, So that would be probably my my value.
