Tessa Dunn is a first-time children’s storybook author based in Charlotte, North Carolina. After retiring in 2022 from a successful two-decade career as Vice President of Hiring and Team Coordinator for Dunn Enterprises, Tessa embarked on a new creative journey that had long been on her heart—writing The Angel Feather. Drawing from a lifelong fascination with angels and a deep foundation of faith, she created a timeless story that encourages children to find hope, courage, and peace through the belief that divine guardians watch over them.

Raised in a family that valued faith, education, and service, Tessa has always been passionate about inspiring others, especially the next generation. Her children’s book, The Angel Feather, and its companion The Angel Feather Coloring Book, are both available on Amazon and her website, www.evangelospress.com
, where they have received glowing reviews from readers. Inspired by the true story of Mother Alexandra, the last princess of Romania and head nun of a Pennsylvania convent who experienced an angelic encounter as a child, Tessa’s work weaves together faith, history, and imagination to offer young readers a message of comfort and wonder.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Tessa is most proud of her family. A devoted mother and grandmother, she treasures her three grown children—two sons who serve in the military and a daughter who is now a mother of two. They are her greatest joy and the driving force behind her mission to bring light, love, and faith to children everywhere. Through her writing and her life, Tessa continues to remind others that it’s never too late to reinvent yourself, trust your instincts, and follow the dreams placed in your heart.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a combination of timing, curiosity, and faith. I began my career in hospitality during what felt like a renaissance in my hometown, where I gained invaluable business insights. Working under a hotel owner who turned around a struggling property opened my eyes to the possibilities of entrepreneurship and strategic vision. My journey then led me from marketing to serving as Vice President of hiring for my husband’s consulting business before it was sold. Beyond business, I have always been deeply fascinated by angels, a passion since childhood that, with my husband’s encouragement, inspired me to publish the story that had long lived in my mind’s eye. The book is based on a true account of an angelic encounter experienced by Mother Alexandra, the last reigning princess of the Romanian kingdom and head nun of a convent in Pennsylvania, whom my father once introduced me to. Her story and writings left a profound impression on me and continue to inspire my creative and spiritual pursuits.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received came from my sister-in-law, who told me, “Do this, even if you do it as a learning experience.” That simple statement encouraged me to take opportunities without fear of failure and to view every step as a chance to grow, learn, and expand my understanding of what’s possible.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

The advice I would give to young women entering my industry is this: you are never too old to start reinventing yourself, and you should always trust your gut. Confidence in your intuition and the courage to evolve are key to building a meaningful and fulfilling career.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are faith, family, and purpose. As the author of The Angel Feather and The Angel Feather Coloring Book, available on Amazon and my website, www.evangelospress.com , I strive to create stories that inspire light, hope, and imagination in children. I’m deeply proud of my three grown children—two military sons and a strong, compassionate daughter who is now a mother of two herself. They are the pride and joy of my life, and their strength, gratitude, and love continually remind me of the importance of faith, perseverance, and kindness. These values guide everything I do, both personally and professionally, as I seek to share light and inspiration with others.
