About Thao
Thao Thai serves as Senior Marketing Insights Analyst at the Walt Disney Company, where she has spent over four years specializing in marketing analytics and measurement within the marketing science field. She earned her bachelor's degree in marketing in 2019 and her master's degree in data science in 2020, both from the University of Central Florida, and she also holds a Python specialization certification from the University of Michigan. Thai is a member of the Association of National Advertisers and participates in Disney volunteer efforts supporting food donations at the Second Harvest Food Bank. She attributes her success to the support of family, co-workers, and those around her. Thai advises letting one's voice be heard and remembering one's seat at the table, while encouraging young women entering the field to build networks and try new things. She values integrity at work and compassion in personal life. In her view, the biggest challenge in marketing science today is navigating AI's impact while keeping humans in the loop, though AI also creates opportunities for easier learning and idea execution even for non-technical professionals.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I would attribute my success to the support that I get from people around me, my family, my co-workers, people that I work with. To keep me going, to help me learn, and to pick me up when I need it. Just the support of those around me is really important.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice that I've ever given throughout my career is to let your voice be heard, and always remember that you have a seat at the table.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Build your network, and don't be afraid to try new things.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is navigating the impact of AI on marketing science and analytics, and how to best leverage AI to drive more impact while ensuring a human in the loop. Opportunities include it being easier now to learn new things and try new approaches because of AI, allowing even non-technical people to explore ideas and execute on them.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In work, having integrity in the things that you do is really important because it's easier to work with people you can trust and rely on. In personal life, having compassion to the people around you, understanding that everyone is always trying their best.
