Her Interview
Ten minutes with Thara
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success mostly to my parents, who always thought I could do more and achieve more without pressuring me. They supported every decision, including my move from India to the United States at a young age. I am also religious and believe a superpower guides those who put in hard work and dedication.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I received from a previous boss is to never underestimate what you can do and what you have done, and to speak up and portray all of the great work.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say don't be fearful of trying anything new, don't get intimidated by people around you, and always give it your best.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Challenges include ensuring clients understand the value of the systems we build in delivering services to individuals in need. Opportunities are plentiful in making things better in terms of policy or systems so that individuals with disabilities can receive services in a timely manner.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I follow the same principles across both work and personal life: being true to myself, working smart, and working hard, and leaving the rest to whatever may come my way while making sure I give it my best.
