About Theresa
Theresa Hooks is an author and model based in Enterprise, Alabama, whose diverse background includes a career in nursing and prior military service. After pursuing college studies in cosmetology and nursing, she transitioned into new creative opportunities that allow her to express herself and explore her passion for modeling. As an alumni of the Christian Model Association, Theresa has expanded her modeling experience internationally, including traveling to Paris Fashion Week. Inspired by her personal experiences and the challenges she encountered during a difficult period in her life, Theresa published her first poetry collection, Drowning In My Thoughts, approximately one year ago. Through her writing, she transforms meaningful life experiences into creative expression and shares her thoughts and reflections with readers. She is currently developing a second book as part of a planned series, continuing to build her presence as an emerging author. In modeling, she remains open to opportunities in commercial casting and magazine features, viewing rejection and closed doors as challenges to overcome rather than reasons to give up. Theresa attributes her success and perseverance to her faith in God and Jesus, which continues to guide her personal and professional journey. She believes in the importance of respect, authenticity, and the freedom to express oneself without fear of judgment. Her advice to others is to pray, remain persistent, follow their dreams, and thoughtfully consider the advice they receive. Beyond her creative pursuits, Theresa demonstrates compassion through donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the American Cancer Society. Through her faith, resilience, and commitment to authentic self-expression, she continues to pursue her goals while seeking opportunities to make a positive difference.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Theresa
01What do you attribute your success to?
Jesus.
My life experiences led me to write poems starting in my early 20s. During a difficult time in my life, I found my old folder and that's when God whispered to me, make a book. The result of that obedience is "Drowning In My Thoughts"
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Never give up. Always follow my dreams.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry is to trust your gut and have confidence in your instincts when making decisions. Always pray and put God first. Remember that No means God is protecting and redirecting you. So never quit pursuing your dream.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in modeling is facing rejection and having doors close when people say no. However, these challenges also create opportunities to grow and persevere, while opportunities to be cast in commercials and featured in magazines make the journey rewarding.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Respect is one of the most important values in my work and personal life. I value being able to express myself authentically and openly without fear of judgment, while fostering an environment where others feel respected and accepted for who they are.
