Her Interview

Ten minutes with Theresa

01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Probably very early on in my career to achieve certification, professional certification, and then following with that to get involved with my professional organizations, which I have spent an enormous amount of my career being involved with.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I think the same advice that I received to get involved, go for your certification and get involved in volunteering within the professional organization.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

A challenge certainly for individuals who are not self-motivated, it would be difficult because most of the work is done independent, and because it's done remotely. You are the one who is responsible for making sure that work is completed and done well. And if you aren't a self-motivated individual, you could miss deadlines.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I am someone who likes to organize and plan. So certainly that is a good characteristic to have in this field. Kind of continuing on the answer to my last question, being able to organize the workload and plan how you're going to execute that so that, again, you can accomplish everything that needs to be done in the timeframe that it needs to be completed.
