Her Story
About Theresa
I spent the first 10 years with the Salvation Army in advocacy focused on family support and amplifying voices of those affected by systemic barriers as a woman of color. For the past several years at Family Works in Seattle, I started as office manager and grew to oversee resource navigators helping families access benefits, providing language access and cultural support to move from surviving to thriving while finding joy.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Learn to let things fly and not take things personally. As a woman of color in this industry, systems were set up by people who need more grace. Take opportunities to educate and develop connections rather than arguing. If it doesn't apply, let it fly. Know when to pull your bootstraps on versus showing grace.
