Tia Taylor
Tia Taylor is a seasoned sales and revenue growth leader with more than a decade of experience in life and health insurance, healthcare sales, and regulated insurance environments. She currently serves as a Director of Sales, where she specializes in leading large remote teams, driving performance through KPI-driven systems, and building scalable strategies across ACA, Medicare, and life insurance lines of business. Her leadership focuses on balancing compliance, operational excellence, and sustainable revenue growth while developing high-performing teams.
Tia’s path into insurance began unexpectedly. Although she was familiar with the industry through her father’s work with Primerica, she was not initially drawn to it as a career. During college at Texas A&M University, she and her husband both experienced job layoffs, which ultimately led to a move to Omaha, Nebraska. There, she was recruited through the Omaha workforce system and began her career with Mutual of Omaha. She quickly distinguished herself as a top performer, serving as a peer mentor, training new hires, and eventually advancing into roles supporting annuities.
After returning to Austin, Texas, Tia continued her career in insurance with GoHealth, where she transitioned from sales into leadership as a manager. This progression strengthened her passion for developing others and helping individuals find direction in their careers and lives. With a Bachelor’s degree in Theology, she brings a people-centered approach to leadership, focusing on mentorship, personal development, and meaningful connection. She views her work not only as sales leadership but also as a way to guide, support, and empower others to reach their full potential.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to never stopping dreaming and setting high goals for myself. One thing I've learned is that anything that's put in front of me, I can overcome it - you just have to write it down and make it plain. I honestly should not be here today. I grew up with my parents, but they split when I was young, and I went through rape, molestation, and all of those things. I had to figure out a way how to provide and live for myself and take care of myself. But I did everything right - I got married, had my kids after, and I've been married 12 years. For me, it's about keeping myself balanced by writing and making sure I'm speaking with the Lord every single day. Shower time is when I make that time to talk with Him - that's me and Him time. I make sure I do not get rid of that because that's how I'm able to focus on myself and my mental health. I was diagnosed with PTSD when I hit college because of the molestation and stuff I went through, so I had to learn really fast how to manage stress. When I went through a layoff at American Health Marketplace, I had discernment - God gave me a dream and told me exactly what I needed to do. I planned out exactly what I wanted, put a vision board up, and ended up having 11 interviews with AWL, which is now the company I work for.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't be scared to set high goals for yourself. Don't forget to dream. One thing I have learned to do is that anything that's put in front of me, I can overcome it, and you just have to write it down and make it plain. For me, it's just more so of just don't ever stop dreaming - whatever you want is there as a woman. I should not be here today, and the reason why I say that is because I grew up with my parents, but my parents split when I was young, and I went through rape, molestation, all of those things. I had to figure out a way how to provide and live for myself and take care of myself. And I did everything right - I got married, had my kids after, and I've been married 12 years. So my advice is to never give up on your dreams and keep that faith, because those doors will continue to open for you.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Mental health is very important to me. I keep myself balanced by writing and making sure I'm speaking with the Lord every single day. Shower time is when I make that time to make sure I'm talking with Him to ensure that I'm giving my time - that's me and Him time. I make sure I do not get rid of that because that's how I'm able to focus on myself and my mental health. I was diagnosed with PTSD when I hit college, so I had to learn really fast how to manage stress. This year, I told myself I'm doing something for myself because I wasn't taking a lot of time off - I was focusing on everybody else. So I ended up dancing with the Austin Spurs this year at their halftime show, and I'm gonna do more of that. I also make sure I'm taking time to do things that I love to do, like fine dining with my husband and playing video games as a family. My volunteer work and tithing is about giving to the community - I am the church. Anybody that's around me that needs help, I'm giving to them. My mother will never come and beg for anything because anything that she says she needs, I send it to her before she even can ask.
