She has built resilience through working in a traditionally male-dominated industry and has developed confidence by relying on preparation, documentation, and professional knowledge. Looking ahead, Tiara aspires to advance into a director-level quality assurance role while continuing to explore entrepreneurial opportunities. Her journey reflects determination, professional growth, and a commitment to encouraging other women to pursue leadership opportunities and remain persistent in achieving their goals.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Tiara
01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
My manager was super tough on me and made me who I am. The advice was that if you want to be great, you gotta put in the work and stay over. If I really want to be successful in this field, sometimes going home and clocking out after your shift is not gonna do it. You're gonna have to put in that extra time. I learned that and started doing that and it did work for me.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Don't let the no stop you. You're gonna hear no, you're gonna see an opportunity and think it's a great fit and then wind up not getting it. Keep going for those great opportunities because you never know what your future holds. The no's will turn into a yes eventually and it's gonna be worth it in the end.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Going into a new environment as a younger African female in a male-dominated food manufacturing field. Getting people to listen to the advice I give them. I've grown a tough shell and learned to document and move on when they don't listen.
