Tifany Hill is a dedicated publisher, editor, and advocate with over a decade of experience in publishing and content development. As the CEO and publisher of Steel & Grace Women Veterans Magazine, a quarterly magazine celebrating and supporting women veterans, Tifany has created a platform that highlights personal stories, health and wellness, fashion, transition resources, and veteran claims guidance. Her work has garnered recognition and support from the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs Women State Coordinator and the Florida Women Veterans Advisory Council, underscoring her commitment to empowering female veterans and fostering community engagement. A retired U.S. Army veteran and former Department of Defense employee, Tifany has long combined her professional expertise with service-oriented work. She has also served as a Community Outreach Specialist with the Department of Veterans Affairs, further cementing her dedication to advocacy and outreach. Her achievements in publishing are complemented by her background in business and healthcare, holding both an MBA with a focus in health science and health services and a Certificate in Medical Assistance, which enhance her ability to manage operations, editorial projects, and community initiatives. Beyond publishing, Tifany engages in event planning, film projects, and community programs, including the Divas Day Experience and an upcoming Steel & Grace Women Veterans Magazine Tour. What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I received was to get back into the magazine business because I had a unique approach with magazine styles and concepts.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
If you are just in it to make money, then don't get into this industry. You must be passionate about it and build a great team to help move it forward. Finding the right market and creating strategies to attract customers will take patience.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in this field is finding a direct ship company that is at an affordable rate for a new publication company. Another challenge is getting people to buy online advertising when you are a new business, The greatest opportunities that I have right is the support and partnership of the FDVA Women Veterans State Coordinator, Mrs. Vanessa Thomas, the Florida Women Veterans Advisory Council, my awesome writers, and my amazing graphic designer. We are all growing and learning together.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value honesty, respect, altruism, fairness, and gratitude. This list can go on and on for me. I think it's the southerner in me because we really value the whole vibe of a person, place, or thing.
