About Tiffani

Tiffani Helton is a corrections officer and security professional with more than a decade of experience across the security, corrections, and public service sectors. Based in Florida, she currently serves at Hardee County Correctional Institution, where she recently earned her correctional officer certification and is pursuing her first promotion. Throughout her career, Helton has built a reputation for accountability, leadership, and adaptability, with experience spanning armed security, cash logistics, operations management, recruiting, and corrections. Her commitment to professional growth was recognized during the corrections academy when she earned the prestigious Top Gun Award in firearms training—an achievement that represented not only technical excellence but also a deeply personal milestone in her journey of healing and resilience. Helton began her career in 2009 in floor security before advancing into customer service and management roles at Circle K. She later transitioned into the security industry in 2013 with Loomis Armored Truck Company, followed by positions with Brinks and Allied Universal. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she served at essential sites while working unarmed security before being promoted to Operations Manager and later Regional Recruiter, overseeing hiring and staffing efforts across much of Florida from the Tampa branch. Her career also includes service as a Child Welfare Specialist with Oklahoma Department of Human Services before returning to Florida to continue her public safety career in corrections. Each role has strengthened her leadership skills and reinforced her belief that determination and a willingness to learn create opportunities for advancement. A single mother, Helton credits her success to the responsibility she felt to provide for her children and the determination to keep moving forward regardless of life's obstacles. She believes courage is found in facing challenges head-on and encourages young women entering the security and corrections professions to advocate for themselves, find supportive communities, and never lose sight of hope. Guided by perseverance, integrity, and a commitment to continuous growth, Helton continues to pursue new opportunities while inspiring others to find strength in adversity and purpose in service.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Tiffani

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the sense of responsibility I developed as a young single mother. Knowing that my children depended on me gave me the determination to keep moving forward, no matter how difficult the circumstances. That responsibility became my greatest source of motivation and resilience.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I received came from my teachers, who taught me the value of perseverance and preparedness. One art teacher continued creating despite severe vision and motor functions loss, showing me that passion and determination can overcome adversity. Another taught us practical skills like crochet, reminding me that having a skill you can always rely on is invaluable.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women to keep going, even when the path feels difficult. Find your purpose, surround yourself with people who support and uplift you, and remember that challenges do not define your future. Growth comes from perseverance, and there is always a better path ahead if you remain committed.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is overcoming the gender bias that still exists, particularly in armored transport and security, where women are sometimes underestimated. At the same time, there are many opportunities within state service and corrections, including pathways into law enforcement, probation, county agencies, and leadership roles for those willing to continue growing.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Determination and courage are the values that guide me in both my professional and personal life. They have helped me face challenges with confidence, stay committed to my goals, and continue moving forward regardless of the obstacles I encounter.
