Her Interview
Ten minutes with Tiffany
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to social media marketing and really putting myself out there. I have my little business cards and flyers that I post up through the stores where I'm at, and I also inform my family to always come my way when they want to do a big party event. So I'm really marketing myself and getting the word out about my business through networking and social media. It's all about making sure people know what I do and building that network of clients through family connections and community presence.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've ever received was never to give up and always keep going, even when it's hard. This advice has been especially important to me because I've had a lot of trauma in my life, so I'm actually fighting out of the battlefield, and now I'm on the top. That message to keep pushing forward no matter what challenges come has really shaped my journey and helped me become the first generation in my family to graduate with two master's degrees.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this field is that even when challenges come, never get intimidated. Look at the challenge as new beginnings and new ways of coming up with new creations. The obstacles you face aren't roadblocks - they're opportunities to innovate and grow. Don't let the competitive nature of this industry scare you away. Instead, use those challenges to push yourself to be more creative and find fresh approaches to your work.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in my field right now is actually finding more clientele. It's a very competitive market because there are a lot of people doing my type of work. So the main challenge is standing out and attracting clients in such a crowded space. That's why I focus so much on marketing myself through social media, business cards, flyers, and building my network through family and community connections.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in my work and personal life are integrity, excellence, customer commitment, respect, reliability, innovation, community impact, empowerment, teamwork, and passion. These principles guide everything I do, from how I run my catering business to how I show up as a mother and volunteer in my children's school. They reflect my commitment to doing quality work, treating people with respect, staying reliable for my clients, continuously innovating in my craft, making a positive impact in my community, empowering others, working collaboratively, and bringing passion to everything I undertake.
