01What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I received is to go where the opportunity is, from my father. No matter where the opportunity was, we took it as a family. That has made me into a person that can survive anywhere, connect with people, be open-minded, and grow from experiences. Pack your bags, take your family, and go grow in that space.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Continue to be open to opportunities where you're asked to lead. There have been positions I've been put in that I even maybe had a little self-doubt, but because of my abilities to connect with others, build relationships and ask questions, I've figured it out each time. Don't doubt yourself. Throw yourself in there, ask questions and get to know people, and you'll figure it out.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Some of the biggest challenges are remaining at the table with executive leadership. We have to make sure we keep that seat at the table with our executive leadership teams, and providing them insights that help direct how they make business decisions. Providing key metrics like turnover, compensation, looking at the market and making sure that they know what's happening, what could be impacting their people as they make big business decisions.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Connection is a big value for me. I am very connected with what leaders need and allow people to be very vulnerable about where they are and their challenges so I can help coach them through it. I am a growth mindset type of leader and believe we meet people where we are but then help provide them the tools and resources to help them grow. I approach most challenges with how do I communicate and how do I help people grow? This is who I am in my personal life as well - with new information and new insights we make different decisions and continue to share multiple perspectives and grow.
