What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to resilience shaped by growing up across multiple marginalized communities, including neurodivergence, disability, and socioeconomic hardship. Having a strong, determined mother as a role model taught me persistence, independence, and the importance of self-belief. My natural curiosity, hyperfocus, and willingness to push through adversity have also played a major role in shaping my career trajectory.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received was: if a company pays you severance, don’t go back. That advice reframed how I think about organizational transitions, self-worth, and career boundaries, and it has stayed with me throughout my professional journey.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Build a strong, supportive network of women who are genuinely invested in each other’s growth, and actively maintain those relationships over time. Equally important is prioritizing your physical, mental, and emotional well-being, because careers can easily consume your time and energy if you allow them to. Protecting your health and your personal life is essential for long-term success and fulfillment.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges is ensuring AI systems are accessible and equitable for neurodivergent, disabled, and Indigenous communities. Another major concern is the environmental impact of AI, particularly data center water consumption and sustainability. At the same time, there is a major opportunity to build more inclusive, human-centered AI systems that improve accessibility, reduce barriers, and meaningfully serve diverse populations.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
My core values include accessibility, inclusion, sustainability, and ensuring technology serves real human needs. I strongly believe in uplifting women and marginalized communities, as well as protecting personal well-being and family life from being overshadowed by work. I am also deeply committed to building technology—especially AI—that is ethical, sustainable, and genuinely beneficial to the people it impacts.
