About Tiffany
Tiffany Potter is the Associate Vice President for System Quality, Safety, and Clinical Effectiveness for a large healthcare system in the Houston area. In this role, she oversees quality teams across hospital campuses, focusing on patient safety, public rankings such as U.S. News and World Report, and driving improvements through influence and collaboration. With over 20 years in healthcare, she started as a certified nursing assistant and progressed through roles in emergency and intensive care nursing before transitioning to quality leadership, motivated by early experiences highlighting the need for strong patient safety practices and supportive leadership. Potter earned her RN license, bachelor's degree in nursing, master's degree in nursing, and doctorate in nursing practice. She also holds a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification, is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, holds HACP, and is pursuing FACHE. Her professional achievements include leading quality and patient safety programs during COVID, rebuilding regulatory compliance programs, being nominated for an Excellence in Nursing Award, named to Becker's Hospital Review Patient Safety Experts to Know list, and publishing in the American Journal of Medical Quality. She is actively involved in organizations including the Institute for Healthcare Improvement CQO Network, Texas Gulf Coast Association for Healthcare, Greater Houston Society of Healthcare Risk Managers, ACHE, NAHQ, American Nurses Association, and IHI Leadership Alliance. 01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I'm a huge proponent of nursing. There's so many different things you can do... don't wait until you feel like you're completely ready. There's never going to be the perfect time... know your value, use your voice. And when you earn a seat at the table, use it to create seats for others.
