Her Story

About Tiffany

I am an instructional specialist with Richmond Public Schools, a role I've held after spending many years as a classroom teacher. Over my 20-plus years in education, I've had the privilege of working with elementary school teachers across kindergarten through 5th grade, helping them become even better at what they do. My typical day involves meeting people at schools and helping them facilitate their lessons and planning, looking at data and analyzing how to better support their students. I work with all kinds of teachers - sometimes teachers reach out to me because they have an idea but don't quite know how to get it off the ground, so I can help that way. I also help teachers who are struggling with behavior management or who don't quite understand how to teach the content to kids in a way they'll understand. And I love working with those teachers who are already doing a great job and want to go from good to great - helping them incorporate technology, set up student performances, or bring in outside resources to bring their lessons to life. I'm really the link between the teacher and anything else they would need to support them to be better. This position is typically held by exemplar teachers, and I was honored to earn it after becoming Teacher of the Year. Now, instead of staying in one building, I support many, many schools across my district, working as part of a team of four specialists who meet weekly to plan based on the needs we're seeing.
