About Tiffany

Tiffany Spicer, CPMSM, is a Stormwater Planner Scheduler with the City of Georgetown in Texas, where she has built a 12-year career in environmental services and municipal stormwater management. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the The University of Texas at San Antonio and began her professional journey working in hazardous waste compliance and environmental regulatory support. Early in her career, she developed hands-on experience in construction site inspections and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) development, laying the foundation for her long-term focus on environmental compliance.

Over the course of her career, Tiffany progressed into increasingly responsible roles within stormwater operations and municipal government. She spent several years as a Stormwater Management Coordinator for the City of Georgetown, where she managed MS4 permit requirements, led public education and outreach initiatives, supported construction and post-construction stormwater controls, and helped coordinate environmental compliance programs under state and federal regulations. Her work also included field inspections, regulatory reporting, and community engagement efforts aimed at improving local water quality and environmental awareness.

In her current role as Stormwater Planner Scheduler, Tiffany focuses on the operational and logistical side of stormwater management, including scheduling maintenance, coordinating contractor work, supporting infrastructure research, and responding to resident concerns related to drainage and public works issues. She is especially active during severe weather events, when she assists with emergency response coordination for flooding and infrastructure impacts. Known for her dedication to public service, she is passionate about protecting natural resources and improving her community through practical, day-to-day environmental stewardship.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Tiffany

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to consistent hard work, perseverance, and staying focused on long-term goals rather than short-term challenges. I believe it is not about where you start, but the direction you commit to, and even on difficult days I remind myself to keep moving forward. My passion for environmental science has also been a major driver, and because I am aligned with my interests and values, my work feels meaningful and motivating rather than like a job.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I credit my growth and career development to strong mentorship and guidance along the way. In particular, I am grateful to my current manager Molly Ritter, and my former supervisor Patrick, all of whom have supported my development, provided valuable feedback, and encouraged me to continue advancing professionally.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to stay committed, put in the time, and trust that consistent effort will pay off. Hard work makes a real difference, and it’s important to focus less on where you are in the moment and more on the direction you are heading. There will be challenging days, but persistence and resilience are what carry you through them. If you stay dedicated and keep pushing forward, you will create the opportunities and growth you’re working toward.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is the increasing frequency of extreme weather events, including strong El Niño patterns that lead to heavy rainfall, flooding, and infrastructure damage. These conditions require fast, coordinated responses to issues like fallen trees, flooding concerns, and public safety impacts. While it can be demanding and unpredictable, it also highlights the importance of adaptability, teamwork, and staying responsive under pressure.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are service, connection, and passion. I truly enjoy working with the public and helping people, even when there are limitations on what I can do within my role, because I value being able to support and guide others in meaningful ways. I also have a deep appreciation for the environment and science, which has shaped my career path and made my work feel fulfilling and aligned with who I am.

Outside of work, I value family and quality time, especially moments spent with my son and our Corgi. Whether we’re playing video games together or simply enjoying time at home, those experiences keep me grounded and bring a lot of joy to my life.
