Ten minutes with Tiffany
01What do you attribute your success to?
I credit my success to being a cycle breaker. I grew up on the Lower East Side in New York City housing, watching people struggle, and I knew I wanted a different future. I wanted to show people that we could rise, build careers, and break patterns that held us back.
That drive pushed me to work harder, learn more, and never settle. I wanted to prove to myself, my family, and the generations after me that even if English is our second language and our roots come from Puerto Rico, we can still achieve more than what we were born into.
I refused limited opportunities define my life. I wanted better because I knew I deserved better. That mindset still fuels me today: grow, learn, and keep moving forward.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever learned is this: do not take it personal. In business, people react to situations, not to you. Their frustration is rarely about the person in front of them.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Do not let anyone tell you that you cannot succeed. Your belief in yourself matters more than anyone else’s opinion. Be kind to yourself, keep learning, and get back up every time you fall. Keep climbing.
I was told I did not have the experience or the education, so I went back to school. I earned my bachelor degree in my thirties and my master degree in my forties. I chose growth, and I refused to let anyone stop me.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
My mindset has always been “challenge accepted, I will figure this out.” The only real challenge I face now is age. I am at a point in my life where I need to slow down, protect my energy, and be mindful of my mental health. I live with depression, so I try not to push myself beyond my limits or overextend myself the way I used to.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty is the value I hold above everything else. I respect people who can say, “I do not know the answer, but I will find out.” Be honest with me, give me real feedback, and communicate openly.
I always ask for feedback. I want to know where I showed up and where I am weak. Growth only happens when honesty is present.
Without honesty, there is no integrity, no trust, and no genuine connection. Honesty is what makes a team work.
