Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to embracing growth and stepping out of my comfort zone. I started in sales, then moved into insurance and banking, where I work full-time while also pursuing my passion for music. Growing up shy, music became my outlet for self-expression and confidence. Performing as Maya Rose, I draw inspiration from artists like The Weeknd, and my debut song, *“Love Me or Let Me Go,”* is available on YouTube with plans for Spotify. Balancing my career and music has taught me perseverance and focus. For me, success is about growth, self-expression, and following my passions while making meaningful connections through both work and art.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to fully step into my artistic persona. When I create, I embrace the mindset, style, and confidence of Maya Rose, not just Tamara. I rely on my support system, ask for help when needed, and stay intentional about protecting time for both music and family, allowing me to grow authentically in all areas of my life.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to believe in yourself, even when it feels uncomfortable. Confidence grows with every step you take forward. Lean on your support system, ask for help when needed, and stay intentional about protecting time for your passions and personal life—balancing both is key to long-term success.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges—and opportunities—in my field right now is balancing motherhood, a full-time career, music, and school. Managing all of these responsibilities requires energy, focus, and strong time management, but it also provides the chance to grow, learn, and pursue my passions simultaneously.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are family, learning, and intentional planning. I cherish spending time with my two children, seeking inspiration and growth through podcasts, and thoughtfully preparing for my upcoming wedding. These priorities help me stay grounded, focused, and motivated in all areas of my life.
