Her Story

About Timi

I've spent over 10 years in consulting and technology, experiencing a lot of different challenges and growth along the way. As a functional management consultant, my days are filled with internal team stand-ups where we discuss our goals and what we want to achieve, followed by client planning meetings and technology strategy sessions. I help clients figure out the right corporate approach to take with the different transformations happening in their industry. I'm proud of my ability to take up whatever challenge a client or life brings to me, being very adaptable in different environments and navigating the constant changes that happen across industries and companies. I always make time to mentally and physically reflect during my breaks because I believe mental and physical health is very important to doing well at your job. Right now, I'm focused on keeping up with all the AI changes in technology, making sure we're not being left behind with all the transformation that's happening. I even have AI upskilling work I do in between my client calls.

Ten minutes with Timi

01What do you attribute your success to?

I'm trying to make my younger self proud. That's what drives me and what I owe my success to.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Never be too afraid to start, even though you're not very familiar with an area. You've got to keep on working on things till you get to the level you want to, so never be afraid of new challenges or just new experiences that you're not aware of. That's the best advice I've received and it's really shaped how I approach my career.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Never be afraid to be the only woman in the room. I know originally when I went into my field, mostly back in college, technology was dominated by men. A lot of times I was the only girl in class, or even the only girl in meetings, and I was never afraid to be timid, or maybe just be like the secretary in the team. I was able to be bold and stand up, and even also try to create room for the women in the room. Don't let being outnumbered hold you back from taking your place at the table.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I guess just keeping up with all the changes with AI, making sure that we are on track with all the AI changes, and we are not being left behind with all the transformation that's happening. I mean, in technology, even right now, I have AI upskilling stuff I have to do in between my client calls, so just keeping up with AI and technology transformation is the biggest challenge and opportunity right now.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I think definitely a good balance of work-life balance. I know it's never perfect, but it's something I strive for. And then definitely a very good company culture that reflects your personal goals and just you as a person. Those are the values that matter most to me in both my work and personal life.
