Her Story

About Tina

Tina Chapman is a women’s leadership coach, mentor, and IT empowerment specialist based in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She is the founder of Empowered Women in IT, a platform dedicated to helping women leaders in technology strengthen their confidence, elevate their executive presence, and ensure their voices are heard and respected at every level of leadership. Through her coaching, speaking, and content, she equips women to become more assertive, build strategic alliances, and navigate complex, male-dominated environments with clarity, credibility, and influence. Her work centers on helping women move from self-doubt to confident decision-making and from being overlooked to becoming recognized, influential leaders.

Tina brings more than 30 years of corporate IT experience, beginning her career as a software engineer and progressing through increasingly senior leadership roles, including program manager and enterprise IT leadership positions. Over the course of her career, she led and delivered large-scale technology initiatives spanning infrastructure, service delivery, governance, and vendor management. In her most recent corporate role, she designed and built a comprehensive IT Vendor Management program, establishing governance structures, performance frameworks, and stakeholder engagement models that strengthened accountability, improved vendor performance, and enhanced collaboration across business and IT functions. Her leadership approach blends technical expertise with strategic relationship management, enabling her to drive operational excellence while fostering trust-based partnerships across complex organizations.

After retiring from corporate IT two years ago, Tina transitioned her extensive experience into a purpose-driven mission by founding Empowered Women in IT. Through this work, she supports women leaders through her 5-month Empowered Leadership Breakthrough program and her weekly podcast, both designed to provide practical tools for assertiveness, influence, and career advancement. Her coaching emphasizes developing critical thinking, strengthening communication, building influential networks, and confidently advocating for ideas in high-stakes environments. Tina’s mission is to empower women in IT to lead with authority and authenticity, cultivate meaningful professional alliances, and create lasting impact within their organizations and the broader technology industry.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Tina

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a deep passion for my work and a strong commitment to service. I focus on understanding the challenges and pain points others are experiencing and work to provide meaningful guidance and practical support to help them move through those obstacles. By staying attentive to the needs of those I serve and remaining solutions-oriented, I am able to create value, build trust, and support others in achieving growth and positive outcomes.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women entering this industry to seek out a mentor or coach who has real experience in the field to help guide them through the challenges they will inevitably face. Having someone who understands the environment can provide valuable perspective, encouragement, and practical strategies for navigating difficult situations. I would also recommend building a strong support system outside of the workplace, so you have a trusted network of peers and advocates who can offer guidance, balance, and encouragement throughout your career journey.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge in my field is that, in male-dominated industries like IT, women’s voices are not always heard or fully respected, which can limit visibility and influence. However, this also creates an important opportunity for meaningful change women have the chance to advocate for one another, intentionally elevate each other’s contributions, and actively support the development of future women leaders. By building strong networks of allyship and mentorship, we can help create more inclusive environments where women’s perspectives are valued and leadership opportunities are more accessible.
