Her Story

About Tina

I've been in my field for 3 years as a dietary technician at Vandalia Health's Women's and Children's Hospital. My work includes making sure patients get the proper diets, delivering trays, working the tray line, and helping with Meals on Wheels for seniors. I previously worked in medical claims, as a school cook for 8 years, and as an administrative assistant scheduling appointments for mental health patients. I have a certificate in medical billing and coding from Ultimate Medical Academy and training in medical assistance from OIC. I aspire to become a certified dietitian.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Tina

01What do you attribute your success to?

How I was raised by my mother and setting goals for myself. From a little kid, I've always been told to set goals.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Just to never give up, keep a positive attitude, and always set goals for yourself to reach. No matter how old you are, it's never too late.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Being the new girl on the block and getting to know people. Just try to be nice to people and treat people the way I want to be treated.
