Her Interview
Ten minutes with Tina
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to perseverance and hard work.
My career path was not something I had planned from the beginning.
As an average teenager, I was unsure of what I wanted to do with my life, and my father encouraged me to pursue an education in finance and accounting.
He reminded me that finance and accounting could provide me with a strong foundation and that I could always build something from it.
His guidance, combined with perseverance and a willingness to work hard, ultimately helped lead me to where I am today.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is to think positively.
One saying that has stayed with me throughout my life is, “Your mind is a garden, your thoughts are the seeds; you can grow flowers or you can grow weeds.”
That perspective has reminded me of the importance of maintaining a positive mindset and being intentional about the thoughts I allow to shape my outlook and actions.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the finance and accounting industry is to never allow anyone to put you down or convince you that you cannot accomplish something. Believe in your abilities, remain determined, and do not allow other people's doubts to become your limitations.
If you set your mind to something and are willing to put in the work, you can achieve it.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
A lot of AI is being pushed in our field,. but AI is NOT always better than people. AI can be a TOOL, but it should never replace a Finance professional.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I place a great deal of value on spending quality time with my family and the people closest to me.
Whether it is going to the zoo with my child, going to the movies, or simply spending time together, those moments are very important to me.
I also value my close friendships.
My circle may be small, but it is strong and meaningful, and I appreciate the relationships I have built with the people I trust and care about.
