About Tina

I started as a mechanic, then parts, tool repair, computers as systems operator at EDS, and price book analyst at Easy Mart. An avid animal lover with many cats and dogs over 30 years, I created Your Feelings Are Showing to sell custom merchandise promoting unconditional love for animals and donate proceeds to local rescues like Fixed Texarkana and Humane Society in Texarkana.

Ten minutes with Tina

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success in all of my areas of employment and life can be contributed to my dad for telling me to listen and he meant on a job. One day I did and realized there is a lot to learn from people with more experience than you. I've learned that, no matter how much experience or knowledge you have, you can't go into a new job thinking you know everything. The truth is you know nothing about this company or how they do business. Learn that first then contribute your knowledge and skills to be an asset to them. Pay attention to details. And be a team player.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Always wash your hands on company time. Data entry people don't have to think, they just enter data, but you' get paid to think.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Never stop moving physically. Be quiet and listen to learn. If training someone, remember you were stupid once too and be patient.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Right now getting this business going is going to take funding. I need to get the store built in a local shop so I can buy inventory in bulk, work with a local printer, and make the cost of each item more reasonable than they are at these online popup stores. But what the online stores do for me is let me show my creations. Once I get some funding to help cover the cost of the inventory and the ads/videos that will be shared all over the internet hitting algorithms of animal lovers, there is no stopping this train.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty, loyalty, and a definite commitment to the welfare of animals.
