Tina Smith is a healthcare information technology executive with over 20 years of experience leading enterprise systems and IT strategy. Her prior roles include Chief Information Officer at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in Memphis, Tennessee, Vice President positions at Seattle Children's for nearly five years, and 11 years at Cook Children's Health Care System in various leadership capacities focused on Epic enterprise applications. Tina holds a bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems from Texas A&M University in College Station and an MBA in Management from Amberton University in Garland, Texas. She is a PMP certified since 2003, holds an ITIL foundation certification, and became a Certified Executive Coach through Focal Point in 2025. Her expertise centers on electronic medical records such as Epic, project management, leadership, and strategic thinking. 01What do you attribute your success to?

I've had some very good mentors, sponsors, and coaches that have been instrumental. My parents instilled working hard and treating people well. My faith has also been key.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Trust your skill set and trust yourself. Do not be overwhelmed or doubt yourself. Everyone has the same feelings and doubts. Work smart and lean on people. Engage with others to solve problems.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Challenges: Keeping up with new technology like AI while having a foundation for it; being engaging as a leader with remote teams. Opportunities: AI and entrepreneurship, especially post-COVID.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, treating people well in a compassionate and empathetic way.
