Her Interview
Ten minutes with Tineke
01What do you attribute your success to?
A whole lot of it is from my family for supporting me every step of the way, my boyfriend, and also the teachers and mentors that have believed in me throughout these years that has gotten me to where I am today.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Have a practical interest and also keep pursuing your other interests that are not as practical. You don't have to choose, but you need a ground to step on every day and you just need to feed yourself, so always have something to fall back onto is as important as having interests and ambitions.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Follow your interests, don't be afraid to try new things whether that's professionally or not. Network with a lot of people in your company, go to random events, meet people outside your service line. Try to find a mentor, someone that either has been in your shoes or an aspirational mentor.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
With the rise of AI, it creates a lot of opportunities but everyone is still trying to figure out how to best implement it. Being AI literate would be the most helpful as it could help grow into reviewer roles by using AI as their agent, changing the job description of the profession rather than eliminating a role.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Family, taking care of each other, and just helping people close to you, your community. Having fun, you only live this world once so create your own path. Try to get a balance of everything, work hard and play hard at the same time, and always prioritize physical and mental health.
