About Tish
Tish Martinez is Key Account Manager at Por La Mar Nursery in Santa Barbara, California. She manages corporate sales across mass supermarket accounts, independent garden centers, resorts, hotels, and brokers, with notable clients including Disneyland and the Bellagio Conservatory. Martinez began her career in the floral industry around 1995 after a family transition led her back to the agriculture business, building her expertise through hands-on training rather than formal degrees. She maintains active involvement in the IFPA, formerly PMA, and the Santa Barbara Chamber of Commerce. Her professional honors include sales achievement awards received in 2003 and recognition as a small business owner honoree in 2021. Martinez contributes to Santa Barbara community efforts through education partnerships, the Santa Barbara County Land Trust, and fundraising events. She credits her accomplishments to an empowered mindset, team leadership, positive thinking, and supporting colleagues success, while upholding values of integrity, trust, positivity, joy, and gratitude in her work.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being empowered, having a mindset, being a team leader, positive thinker, empowering other colleagues. And seeing their success is my success.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received is to keep an open mind, listen, pause, respond don't react, and just be true to yourself.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women is keeping your head held high, follow with an open heart, embrace all the knowledge you can, and follow through with integrity and intention.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
As women, we are making incredible strides to overcome a lot of the male-dominated positions that are here in our industry.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, trust, positivity, being joyful, and having gratitude are most important to me.
