Her Interview

Ten minutes with Tolieka

01What do you attribute your success to?

My faith is extremely strong. The faith that I have in God blows me away because I believe for things that others think aren't possible. I had a lot of adversity in my life. I have 4 kids and I was a single mom going through my career journey for years until I got married about 5 years ago. That journey took me in every direction possible with every hurdle but I never quit because I knew the power of God.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be comfortable with being yourself. Understand who you are and the identity that you have and be so comfortable with that. As women especially influential women continue to grow in their careers it's very easy to want to shift and conform to what everyone wants you to do and be but if you were the same you wouldn't be where you were at. It's okay to be you the flaws and everything and continue to grow.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Being able to love people and treat people the way you want to be treated. When you really have that foundation of I'm going to treat you the way I want to be treated and I'm going to love regardless it kind of can't go wrong. You go into everything genuine with an open heart but also that strength. Vulnerability is power.
