Ten minutes with Toni
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the support, encouragement, and guidance I have received throughout my career. Having leaders recognize my passion and potential and encourage me to step outside my comfort zone has helped me grow professionally and take on new challenges with confidence. I have also been fortunate to have a strong mentor who consistently provides encouragement, thoughtful advice, and valuable perspective. Equally important has been the support of my family, who have always encouraged me to pursue my goals. My father, in particular, taught me to go after what I want, work hard, and always do my best, values that continue to guide me both personally and professionally.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to step outside my comfort zone and not be afraid to take on new challenges. It has made a significant difference in my growth to have people recognize potential in me that I may not always see in myself and encourage me to pursue opportunities that stretch my abilities. Their confidence and support have taught me to trust myself, embrace growth, and approach new challenges with courage and an open mind.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The best advice I would give to young women entering my industry is to never be afraid to pursue the opportunities and goals you truly want. Set clear goals, write them down, and identify the steps needed to achieve them. I also encourage women to seek out mentors and build relationships with other women who can provide guidance, encouragement, and perspective throughout their careers. Most importantly, remember that you do not have to navigate your journey alone; having a strong support system and learning from others can make a meaningful difference in your professional growth and success.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is keeping pace with rapidly evolving technology while managing staffing shortages as the business continues to grow. This can make it challenging to train and develop enough qualified professionals while also maintaining a healthy work-life balance for the team. At the same time, there are significant opportunities for career growth, particularly for Clinical Application Specialists who want to advance into advanced applications, team leadership, and management roles. As the industry continues to expand, new positions are being created, providing professionals with more opportunities to develop their skills, take on greater responsibilities, and build long-term careers.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me, both professionally and personally, are integrity, honesty, positivity, and a commitment to continuous growth. I believe in doing my best every day, being honest and accountable in my work, and maintaining a positive outlook even when challenges arise. Difficult moments are inevitable, but I believe they should be short-lived so that I can focus on finding solutions and moving forward. I also value embracing change, learning from every experience, and remaining committed to my goals, because these principles help me grow, overcome obstacles, and achieve lasting success.
