About Toni
Toni Redd is a distinguished singer-songwriter, recording artist, entertainer, and music executive whose career spans more than 40 years. Her musical journey began as a teenager after she won a talent contest in Atlanta, inspiring her father to form a band called New Generation. She went on to perform throughout Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, and at military bases, while also earning recognition in talent competitions in Texas. As an English major at Spelman College, Toni further developed her songwriting abilities and cultivated a lifelong passion for music and creative expression.
Since 2003, Toni has served as CEO of Real Redd Music, where she oversees song production, music publishing, management, and her work as an independent recording artist. Her discography includes albums such as Her Reddness, Straight From the Heart, N the Key of Redd, and Catching the REDD Eye, along with multiple singles. Her soulful R&B and jazz artistry has earned her recognition as a Black Women in Jazz Awards winner for Best Female Jazz Vocalist and Music Video, while her music continues to reach audiences through platforms including Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon, Pandora, and other digital services.
Toni's enduring contributions to music were celebrated in January 2026 when she received a proclamation from the State of Georgia recognizing her with the Music Industry Legend Award. Beyond her artistic accomplishments, she is passionate about giving back through charitable involvement, including concerts and donations supporting Breast Cancer Awareness and the Children's Miracle Network. Through her performances, songwriting, recordings, and community engagement, Toni continues to demonstrate the lasting impact of independent artistry while inspiring others through her belief that, as she puts it, “A Day Without Music Is Unnecessary.”

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to more than 40 years of experience in the music and publishing industry, including leading my publishing company since 2003. My journey began at age 15 when I won a talent contest, leading to years of performing across the southeastern United States and on military bases. My education as an English major at Spelman College also strengthened my songwriting, while my commitment to giving back through charitable concerts and donations for Breast Cancer Awareness and the Children’s Miracle Network has given my career greater purpose.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received came from my parents, who continually inspired and encouraged me to pursue my talents and believe in myself. Their support, along with the recognition I received through awards such as the Black Women in Jazz Awards and winning my first singing contest on a local radio station, motivated me to continue growing and pursuing my career with confidence and dedication.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the music industry is to believe that you can live out your childhood dreams with dedication, persistence, and preparation. My own journey—from winning a contest in Texas and performing in Las Vegas to being honored by the State of Georgia as a music industry legend—has shown me the importance of believing in your talent. I also encourage artists to protect and invest in their work, as I did by forming Real Red Music to handle the publishing and copyrighting of my songs before release.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
After dedicating my life to the music industry, I see every new project as an opportunity to grow, evolve, and create something meaningful. At this stage of my career, I am excited to embrace what comes next and look forward to producing my next best album.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me are generosity, authenticity, and giving back. I am passionate about sharing my story and using my experiences to make a positive impact, including through charity concerts and donations supporting Breast Cancer Awareness and the Children’s Miracle Network. I also value enjoying life through my interests in traveling, baking, and shopping, while appreciating opportunities to connect with people and experience new places, such as performing in Bangkok.
