About Tonni
Tonni JorgePeterson started her professional journey in 1997 with the Orlando Police Department, serving as a radio dispatcher and 911 operator for 18 years. She remained in public safety throughout her career, later moving to human resources with the City of Orlando to complete her 25 years of service before retiring. Post-retirement, Tonni has pursued contract opportunities in security management, handling command centers for major events and trade shows such as Pokemon gatherings as a contractor. She aspires to return to training and mentoring in communication centers, public safety, and crowd safety, drawing from her extensive experience. Tonni emphasizes the importance of being teachable and maintaining an open mind, advising that technology is valuable but hands-on skills remain essential regardless of the role.

01What do you attribute your success to?
A great family with great work ethic. I have been fortunate to have great mentors in every stage of my career.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Always be willing to learn.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Always stay humble and teachable. No matter how much you know, there's always something to learn from someone else. Keep an open mind and never stop growing. Technology is an incredible tool, but it's just as important to have the knowledge and skills to succeed when technology isn't available or fails. True wisdom comes from being prepared for both.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Stay transparent and true to who you are. Always hold onto your values and make sure your morals remain strong in both your personal life and your career. Treat others with kindness and respect, enjoy the journey, have fun along the way, and pursue what you love with passion.
