Her Interview

Ten minutes with Tracey

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my dad. He passed in 1996, but before that I shared with him the hardships I faced like being raped and molested young, getting pregnant young, and not being able to tell anyone. Even though he's gone, I know he's proud because I've overcome so much and proved people wrong who said I wouldn't amount to anything.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is don't quit, don't never give up, and don't settle, regardless of what your life looks like or what you've endured. Never let nobody make you feel like you're not worth it or not capable, because if you want it, you can achieve it. Put your best foot forward and never quit.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't let anybody tell you what you can or cannot do. The word can't is not even in the dictionary. I don't care how old you are or how many children you have. If it's in your heart and something you want to do, do it. Don't quit. Keep going. If you fall, get back up. If somebody knocks you down, get back up, brush yourself off, and keep going.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

There are more opportunities remotely to work from home. School has been very beneficial by helping tailor my resume, teaching how to conduct a proper interview, and how to answer interview questions. Those are top things helping me that I would pour into someone else.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The main thing is to pray and keep God first, and never give up on yourself. Stay positive, keep a positive outlook even if things don't look the way you think they should. Don't ever think negative because you don't never know what your situation could do for another individual.
