Her Story

About Tracey

Tracey Reed is a wardrobe strategist based in Philadelphia, PA. With over 20 years of experience, she helps women find their personal style and use it as a platform to embrace who they are as individuals and reshape their lives. Reed holds a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master's in Costume Design from the University of Pittsburgh. She also earned a certification in skincare and makeup to provide clients with a complete aesthetic look. Her work extends beyond clothing to include closet editing using just 20 minutes a week and guidance on transitioning from casual to evening looks. Reed credits her grandmother with instilling the value of education and sparking her interest in sewing from a young age, which gave her the confidence to pursue her degrees as a single parent and build her career. She emphasizes community, self-love, and helping others feel safe while expressing their true selves through style and self-care. Reed advises young women entering the industry to recognize that they already have what it takes and to continue sharing their knowledge, as someone is always looking for their help.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Tracey

01What do you attribute your success to?

My grandmother instilled the importance of education in me from a young age. She gave me old sheets and showed me how to sew dresses for my Barbies, and told me and my twin that we would go to college and continue our education. Even though she passed when we were in middle school, that seed stayed with me. I pursued my degrees as a single parent and it gave me the confidence to value my natural talent in styling.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Remember that I am the brand. Everything I do, even on a daily basis when not working, is a reflection of my brand. This has helped me connect with people in unexpected places like the supermarket or while hiking.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

You already have what it takes. A lot of people may not understand your interests or love for fashion, but you should continue to share the information that you have, regardless of how some others may not understand, because there is someone looking for your help.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is researching and determining how to make a deeper connection with the audience, and reaching the people who are looking for your service. I am constantly trying to find ways to reach people who are looking for my help.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Community and helping someone reshape their life. What I do is more than just about the clothes, but helping you to embrace who you are as an individual and use your clothes and self-care as a platform to express who you really are and change your current lifestyle. Being able to help people feel safe and embrace self-love is a huge part of my values.
