About tracey
I've been in technology since I was [AGE], and it's been a wonderful journey. I work with enterprise-level clients, managing major accounts for companies like Newmores, Orlando Health, and Crown Castle. In account management, you wear a lot of hats - some days I'm assisting with installations, other days I'm training staff how to use different technologies we've installed. Currently, I'm working with a professor at Nautilus University on advancing AI, helping him add to a course he designed to make it more interactive for executives and CEOs. AI is really here, it's the new thing, and a lot of people don't know how to use it. What I love about this role is investigating and solving problems. It's about listening more than talking, because some people like to do a lot of talking and forget the listening part. If you don't listen and understand what they need, you can't really help them - you're just trying to force something on them that they might not need. I went to school for psychology, which is kind of funny because I could never be a psychologist, but it actually does help with this role. I'm analytical, I'm a relator, and my personality profile is one of the things that makes me good at this role. I've also had really good mentors - I actually spoke to two of them this morning.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Part of it is my personality profile. I went to school for psychology, which is kind of funny because I could never be a psychologist, but it actually does help with this role. I couldn't listen to people's problems all day, but wait, that's what I do every day - it's just different than personal problems. Technology problems are solvable, emotions aren't always the same. But I'm analytical, I'm a relator, there's a test of your 5 top strengths. I think just my personality is one of the things that makes me good at this role, and I had really good mentors. I actually spoke to two of them this morning.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
There's good days and bad days. Don't let the bad days get you down. Wake up the next day and know that God has a plan and learn from the bad days to make the good days better. Don't lose your faith, and don't give up, really.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
It can be intimidating. Don't let them intimidate you. Just smile. You don't have to have an answer for everything. They're not always looking for an answer. Smile, do your job, do the best you can do, and they'll respect you.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges right now is learning all the components of AI to stay relevant and to stay on the cutting edge, because AI is coming in, and unfortunately, companies are seeing that as an opportunity to reduce jobs and remove jobs. I believe that that's the wrong tactic. I think that we should be using it to enhance jobs and create a better experience for the client, and have it as an opportunity to make what we do better and have stronger and longer outcomes, rather than reducing staff and having a machine try to do what humans do. I think there is a place for it, but I do not believe it to be a replacement.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
In work, I can become a workaholic, but what values are most to me in work are relationships, strong relationships with my accounts, with my counterparts, always being kind to people, because you never know what they're going through. In my personal life, it's my husband and my daughter.
