Her Story

About Traci

I come from a single-parent household and am the youngest of four children. Growing up, I witnessed my mother and sisters endure many relationship struggles, and I also experienced early childhood trauma that shaped much of my journey. Becoming a parent at a young age gave me an even deeper understanding of responsibility, resilience, and the importance of healing. Those life experiences deeply impacted me and inspired my passion for helping others heal.

That journey led me into the social work field, where I dedicated my life to supporting individuals facing substance abuse, mental illness, and trauma. I began my career early as a CNA, working in hospitals, private duty care, and hospice. I later worked in a group home caring for individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities while completing both my undergraduate and graduate studies.

After graduation, I worked for the Department of Child Services as an ongoing case manager, helping families reunify children back into safe and stable homes. I then returned to school, earned my master’s degree, and transitioned into therapy, specializing in domestic violence. I also volunteered at a domestic violence shelter, where I provided counseling and support to survivors, and I remain connected to that organization today.

My heart is especially for women’s healing. I am passionate about helping women recognize the signs of toxic relationships and break free from trauma bonds, because so many women enter unhealthy cycles due to unhealed wounds.

When God led me to Houston, it marked the beginning of a deeper healing journey for me personally. During that season, I wrote a book about the trauma I had experienced, Crossing Over Healing From Past Trauma, which became a powerful part of my own release and restoration.

I’m also proud to say that four years ago, I started a home care business in Indianapolis, becoming the first entrepreneur in my family. Through that business, we help individuals with intellectual disabilities engage in their communities and enjoy meaningful experiences.

Today, I know I am walking in purpose. I’m grateful that in every season, even the hardest ones, I chose not to give up.

Ten minutes with Traci

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to God first and foremost. Without God, I would not have made it this far. I also had people in my life who believed in me and saw potential in me, which made a lasting impact.

When I spent time with my father’s side of the family, there were expectations placed on me to strive for more and become something greater. I had an uncle, now passed on, who would often ask me, “What are you going to do with your life?” Those words stayed with me and planted a mindset of purpose, growth, and determination.

That expectation helped shape my desire to want more out of life and to keep pushing forward, even when obstacles stood in my way. Through every challenge, I continued to persevere, and I give all the glory to God.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received is not to give up, even when it gets hard and discouraging. To keep going and not give up. I remember maybe 2 years into operating my business, I was at a point where I was like, I just can't do this, it's too overwhelming. Someone told me that I cannot give up, and that really stuck with me.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Stay focused and consistent. It will not always be easy, but if you don't give up, you will get to where you want to be in life.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is marketing. I'm new to marketing, and I recognize that there are many individuals who are in the same line of work. I need to figure out different strategies to market my business.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are important to me are being honest and walking in integrity. Additionally, I understand the important of respecting others and demonstrates kindness.
