Ten minutes with Tracie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to patience, empathy, hard work, and teamwork. My experiences teaching inner-city children and raising my own children taught me a great deal about patience, understanding, and the importance of putting others before myself. These experiences shaped my approach to working with others and reinforced my belief that success comes from collaboration, perseverance, and a willingness to support the people around me.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received is to be willing to learn from the ground up and to build a strong understanding of the work and processes within my field. I believe that gaining hands-on experience and developing a strong foundation are essential to long-term professional growth. I also value the importance of being honest, taking responsibility for mistakes, and recognizing that challenges can often be resolved through openness and accountability.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the mortgage industry is to start at the entry level and learn the business from the ground up. Positions such as secretary or loan processor can provide valuable insight into how the mortgage process works. I also recommend studying finance in college and building a strong understanding of the industry and licensing requirements. Most importantly, I encourage young professionals to remain open to learning, build relationships, and take advantage of opportunities to grow.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I see many opportunities for growth and professional development within the mortgage and financial services industry. Networking is one of the most valuable opportunities available because building strong professional relationships can help individuals expand their business, discover new opportunities, and grow their careers. Developing a strong network can be beneficial in virtually any industry.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty, integrity, and kindness are the values that are most important to me in both my professional and personal life. I believe people should be truthful and willing to take responsibility for their mistakes. When people are honest and accountable, I believe that most situations can be addressed and resolved. I also believe in treating others with kindness and respect and bringing those values into every relationship.
