About Tracy

Tracy Balentine is a business operations and process improvement leader with approximately 17 years of experience in the technology sector, complemented by experience in real estate. She currently serves as Business Process Improvement Director and Finance Operations Director at NTT, where her career has centered on finance operations, business processes, organizational restructuring, and people leadership. Throughout her management career, she has focused particularly on the people side of leadership—mentoring and coaching employees, restructuring teams to support performance, and creating environments in which employees and businesses can succeed.

Balentine's professional background includes extensive finance and operations leadership, including roles with NTT, Dimension Data, Nexus, Vision Films, and Capital Guardian Trust Company. Her experience encompasses finance operations, accounting management, business process improvement, organizational change, and team management. Alongside her technology career, she has developed a professional background in real estate and works as a Realtor in North Carolina and South Carolina, with certification as a pricing specialist. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Finance with a minor in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton.

Balentine's leadership philosophy is grounded in continuous improvement, open-mindedness, communication, respect, and helping others develop. She places strong emphasis on listening without judgment, learning from feedback, and remaining teachable, while encouraging others—particularly women navigating their careers—to advocate for themselves and pursue opportunities aligned with their strengths. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, exploring local communities and farmers' markets, supporting small businesses and family farms, and spending time with neighbors. She also volunteers with adoption-related initiatives through her church and supports local food banks.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Tracy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being open-minded, willing to learn, and allowing myself to follow where my strengths and abilities lead me. My faith has also been an important part of my journey and has helped guide me through both difficult and successful seasons of my life. I believe that the people I have met and the experiences I have had have shaped me significantly, so I try to listen to people's stories without judgment and remain open to learning from them.

I also believe strongly in continuous improvement—not only in business and processes, but within myself. I try to recognize my own biases, be honest about areas where I can improve, and listen when someone gives me feedback. My goal is to be authentic, help people, and continually become the best version of myself. I have learned that meaningful growth comes from the inside and ultimately influences the way we lead and interact with others.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

One of my earliest managers, who was also an important mentor to me, taught me to stay true to who I am, listen carefully to feedback, make corrections when necessary, and communicate. She emphasized that if I could communicate with people rather than simply talking at them, while taking the time to understand who they are, I could become a great manager. That advice has stayed with me throughout my career and continues to influence how I lead.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Be open to change, be willing to learn, and remain teachable. I believe that what you naturally enjoy doing can often point you toward where your strengths and abilities are best suited, so pay attention to that and pursue opportunities in those areas. At the same time, don't be afraid to stand up for yourself when something isn't right.

Early in my career, I experienced a situation where I had to speak honestly about the role I wanted and advocate for myself. I did so respectfully, knowing that the answer could have been no, but I was willing to ask. That decision ultimately opened the door to my first major success and helped shape the path that followed. Sometimes being honest about what you want and having the courage to ask for it can create an opportunity you might otherwise miss.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

In real estate, one of the biggest challenges is the market itself, along with the need to continually adapt the way we communicate with different people. Clients have different goals and circumstances, and it is important to understand what works best for each individual and communicate in a way that helps them make informed decisions. When the market is challenging, that requires creativity and flexibility.

In technology and business operations, I see continuous learning and process improvement as significant opportunities. My work requires understanding the business from an end-to-end perspective and identifying ways to help organizations and employees work more effectively and efficiently. Emerging tools, including AI and other next-generation technologies, create opportunities to improve processes, work smarter, and support business growth.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Family, respect, compassion, and integrity are central to my values. My faith is also an important part of who I am and how I approach both my professional and personal life. I believe people can have different beliefs and still treat one another with respect, kindness, and love. We don't always have to agree to listen to one another and maintain a meaningful relationship.

I also believe in having a moral foundation while recognizing that everyone has the freedom to make their own choices. I try to keep my heart and intentions in the right place, listen when I may be wrong, learn from my experiences, and continue moving forward. To me, respecting others, being willing to learn, and taking responsibility for my own growth are essential to living and leading well.
