About Tracy
Tracy Hodges is a dedicated English Language Arts educator with 23 years of teaching experience and a passion for helping students build confidence, communication skills, and academic success. She currently serves as an ELA teacher with Arkansas Virtual Academy at K12, where she provides personalized instruction and meaningful one-on-one support to students across Arkansas. With experience teaching English and technical writing across secondary grade levels, Tracy has developed a particular affinity for 10th grade while also bringing expertise in classroom management, communication, and ACT preparation. She is also certified as a K-12 Library Media Specialist and is an alumna of the University of Arkansas.
Throughout her career, Tracy has combined education with leadership, community engagement, marketing, and event development. From 2012 to 2016, she served as Executive Vice President of Events and Marketing for the Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce, where she helped promote local businesses, tourism, workforce development, and community growth. Among her accomplishments was organizing the first Bassmaster Elite national competition in Mountain Home, coordinating a major event involving 100 anglers across two lakes. Her broader professional background includes special events production, technical writing, logistics, advertising, workforce planning, and supply-chain management, giving her a versatile perspective that extends well beyond the classroom.
Tracy's professional philosophy is grounded in balance, compassion, community stewardship, and individualized student support. She believes educators should create welcoming, family-like learning environments where students encourage one another while receiving the personalized guidance they need to reach their goals. Her commitment to students is reflected in the pride she takes in their achievements, including helping learners prepare for major milestones such as the ACT and college opportunities. Outside of work, Tracy enjoys road trips with her husband, cheering for the Razorbacks, spending time with her children and beloved pets, and creating needlework that she generously gifts to family and friends.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the unwavering support of my husband, my commitment to serving my community, and my dedication to leading by example. I find fulfillment in helping my students achieve their goals and make positive choices for their futures. By building trust, setting clear expectations, and creating a supportive, family-like environment, I encourage others to work together toward shared goals and success.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to establish clear non-negotiables and healthy boundaries between professional responsibilities and home and family time. Build meaningful relationships with students, earn their trust, and be a reliable advisor and resource as they navigate their goals and future.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest opportunity for me is to continue growing in my role with Arkansas Virtual High School and ultimately conclude my career there with pride and purpose. Earning my Library Media Specialist certificate has expanded my professional qualifications and created new opportunities to serve students and my community. I remain committed to leading by example and making a positive impact through both my professional and personal endeavors.

I value maintaining a healthy balance between my professional responsibilities and home life, while appreciating the importance of both. I am committed to supporting students individually and helping them achieve success. Above all, I strive to be a good steward of my community and lead by example through my actions and dedication.
