Her Story
About Tracy
My typical day involves supporting the teams to respond to RFQs and RFIs, helping shape governance and policy for people in the White House and on the Hill, and doing a lot of work with our government acquisitions office. That's a big part of my everyday role as far as planning the strategy for how we move forward, what technologies we're going to use, and how to implement them. My role is also part of the Sovereign AI Steering Committee for our company, so I work not only for North America, but with our allied nations, as well as anybody else that has a secure regulation industry environment that needs compliance applied to it, as well as the technology. My day-to-day also includes writing papers where we can provide influence and direction from an academic perspective to steer them into the right columns of what they should be doing based on where they're at in their journey for development of technology that is required. I'm going to be on a panel with the Secretary of Defense on Wednesday, and I wanted to make sure to reach out to the people that are still in the trenches to bring all of their expertise together. I have no invented-here syndrome and take no pride in ownership in what I do, because do we really do things individually on our own? To accomplish something greater, it's not one person, it's a village.

01What do you attribute your success to?
It's the people I work with, the mentors that I've had, and the people that I support and who support me. I see a lot of technology and a lot of great ideas, but being able to have a nucleus of people that I trust to a point where I expect them to tell me if I'm wrong, or if I'm going down the wrong path, or if I am headed in the right direction but I'm not quite there yet - being able to have that communication and trust is key and essential to any kind of progress that is sustainable and that will grow, in my humble opinion. It's all about edification. I was on a call earlier today, and I wanted to make sure to reach out to the people that are still in the trenches, that are on top of the trenches, or in between the trenches. We had a fantastic communal call where they all brought all of their expertise together. Just because I feel like I'm educated enough or have enough operational experience, that doesn't mean that I don't want to hear what they have to say to help shape the message for the greater response. I have no invented-here syndrome. I take no pride in ownership in what I do, because do we really do things individually on our own? Maybe from a personal stand perspective, yes, but to accomplish something greater, it's not one person, it's a village.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
It's interesting just observing and being a part of this whole AI movement that is going on, and understanding the intersections of what we call IT every day, high-performance computing, with AI and Agentic, and with quantum - there is a fundamental hyperconversion of that. I think that there's a great opportunity to bridge all of these incredible things that drive the most mundane processes to the most exquisite, like solving cancer and things of that nature. There are some cross sections there, and I think what we're gonna see moving forward is gonna be a new variety of what we call IT, and forging that path and figuring out how do we fiduciarily apply these things and converge them so that we have interoperability for our users is going to be a huge thing moving forward. My goal is to be able to help contribute or be able to help lead one of those pillars to convergence versus stovepipe. From my perspective, it's not always - 90% of the time is not a technology problem, it's a people problem. So, learning more around people and getting them to be able to come to the table for a group of the willing that are passionate about solving problems is probably the next tink in my belt that I would love to be a part of my growth.
