Her Story

About Tracy

Tracy Northington is the Owner and Founder of Northington Aesthetica LLC, an aesthetics and wellness business she launched in 2022. A California-licensed esthetician with nearly a decade of experience in the aesthetics field, Tracy has built a diverse professional background spanning skincare, professional makeup artistry and consulting, custom airbrush tanning, wellness, and client-centered beauty services. She is also a National Certified ECG Technician (NCET), specializing in 12-lead ECG procedures, reflecting a professional journey that extends beyond aesthetics and incorporates both beauty and healthcare-related experience. Her credentials also include airbrush tanning certification and CPR & AED certification.

Tracy's educational background reflects her multidisciplinary interests and commitment to continued professional development. She earned a Diploma in Esthetics from Federico Beauty Institute after completing its 600-hour Esthetics Program in 2016 and completed a Certificate in Paramedical Esthetics through Concepts Institute of Advanced Esthetics the same year. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at Liberty University and an Associate Degree in Dance at Folsom Lake College, while continuing professional education in makeup artistry and acupuncture. Beyond her professional work, Tracy has a strong creative connection to filmmaking and the arts and enjoys collaborating creatively with her son, who is involved in animation. She is also passionate about gardening, cooking home-cooked meals, spending time with her family, and working behind the scenes in film.

Tracy attributes much of her resilience and professional purpose to overcoming significant personal tragedy and trauma. Rather than allowing those experiences to define or limit her, she has used them to develop a deeper sense of compassion and a commitment to serving others. Her philosophy is grounded in honesty, integrity, love, ethical practice, and authentic human connection. She is passionate about Tourette's awareness and PTSD awareness and has also served as a NICU Baby Cuddler and Emergency Room Volunteer. Tracy believes that aesthetics is ultimately about more than outward appearance; it is about making people feel cared for, valued, confident, and understood. Her approach to leadership and service is centered on treating every client as a person rather than a transaction and using her experiences, skills, and business to create a positive impact in the lives of others.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Tracy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success, in part, to the suffering and trauma I have experienced throughout my life. I have faced major tragedy and personal loss that completely changed my perspective and rocked my world. Although those experiences were extremely difficult, they sparked something within me—a deeper sense of compassion and a desire to serve others.

I believe that difficult experiences can either become something that holds us back or something that gives greater meaning to the work we do. I have chosen to use what I have experienced as a source of empathy and purpose. My goal is not to allow hardship to be wasted, but to channel those experiences into something positive by caring for and serving other people.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received has come from the women in my life who encouraged me to keep pushing forward through trauma, trials, and the difficult or unpleasant parts of life. They taught me to get back up, keep moving forward, and never give up.

That advice has stayed with me because when we have something in our hearts that we are truly passionate about, it can be tempting to give up when circumstances become difficult. I have learned that perseverance matters. Continuing to move forward, even when the path is difficult, has been an important part of my journey.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the aesthetics industry is to develop a deeper understanding of people and to lead with compassion. The industry can sometimes be competitive, difficult, and even painful, so it is important to remain grounded and intentional about the kind of professional you want to become.

Someone may smile and appear as though they have everything together, while privately experiencing struggles that you know nothing about. When people come to you for aesthetic services, they are not simply purchasing a service; they often want to feel cared for, valued, and understood. The experience should go beyond the surface.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges I have personally experienced has been dealing with trauma and circumstances that required me to wait or put certain goals on hold. It can be incredibly discouraging when your mind and heart are ready to pursue something, but circumstances leave you feeling stuck. You can know what you want to accomplish while simultaneously feeling unable to move forward.

At the same time, I believe there are tremendous opportunities within the aesthetics industry. One of the greatest opportunities is meeting people and building genuine human connections. Networking is extremely important, and sometimes it requires us to step outside our comfort zones and push ourselves to connect with others.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty, integrity, love, compassion, and genuine human connection are among the most important values in both my professional and personal life.

I believe that human connection should remain at the center of everything we do. It is easy for people to become so focused on their careers, businesses, or financial success that they lose sight of the human side of what they are doing. For me, human connection is more important than money.
