Her Interview
Ten minutes with Tracy
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my compassion for others. I genuinely believe that the people around us have valuable ideas, perspectives, and experiences that deserve to be heard. By listening with empathy and creating opportunities for others to share their insights, I have been able to build stronger relationships, foster collaboration, and achieve meaningful results.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received was that I’m capable of far more than I often give myself credit for. I also learned not to get hung up on perfection. Progress comes from taking action, embracing opportunities, and continuing to learn and grow, rather than waiting for everything to be perfect.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is not to let the lack of female representation discourage you. Don’t let it stop you just because there aren’t many women at the table. Have confidence in your abilities, speak up, and take your seat—you belong there just as much as anyone else. Your perspective and contributions have value, and by showing up authentically and consistently, you can help pave the way for those who follow.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities in my field is thinking ahead and ensuring that available funding is invested in the most effective and impactful way possible. I entered this field after being given an opportunity, and the more involved I became, the more I realized how much I enjoyed the work. Having a husband who is also a Veteran has given me a personal connection to this mission and continues to inspire my commitment to serving those who have served our country.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that matter most to me, both professionally and personally, are integrity, accountability, and compassion. I believe in doing the right thing every time, owning my mistakes, and making them right. I’m also passionate about giving back by volunteering at my local Goodwill and working with teachers in my school district to provide donations for families in need. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors, fishing, and exploring our state parks, which help me stay grounded and connected to what matters most.
