About Treda
Treda Collier has worked in social justice education since 1989, beginning in U.S. boarding schools where she served as an assistant director for an Upward Bound program supporting first-generation students and later took on roles in recruiting and admissions. She completed an internship in affirmative action at Travelers during college and went on to hold positions at institutions including Phillips Exeter Academy and Long Lane juvenile court facility. Collier pursued graduate work in American Studies and attended divinity school, which informed her ministry and public speaking. She is a member of an American Baptist church and currently serves as president of the American Baptist Churches of Connecticut, where she helps shape a new vision for the organization. Drawing from her background as the product of sharecroppers and a line of missionary Baptist preachers, Collier focuses on training school leaders, supporting families, coaching, mentoring, and creating access and capacity in educational and community settings.
