About Tressie
Tressie Branscumb is a healthcare administration and operations professional with 12 to 15 years of experience across healthcare, pharmacy, nursing studies, patient access, utilization management, and revenue cycle operations. She began her healthcare career in pharmacy before pursuing nursing and ultimately transitioning into healthcare administration. In 2019, she joined Bright Healthcare Management as a non-clinical Utilization Management subject matter expert and trainer, where she developed expertise in healthcare processes, systems, and operational training. Her career reflects a strong understanding of both the administrative and patient-facing sides of healthcare delivery.
Currently with University Health Kansas City, Branscumb works in patient accounts and revenue cycle management, supporting the oral surgery clinic and handling authorization needs involving both dental and medical services. Her responsibilities include submitting and monitoring authorizations, reviewing documentation, coordinating with providers and payers, and arranging peer-to-peer consultations when authorizations are denied. She recently earned her Bachelor of Arts in Health Care Administration and Management from Avila University on August 30 and has continued her education by enrolling in the university's master's program, which she expects to complete in summer 2028. She has also accepted a new opportunity as an RCAL, preparing to serve as an administrative director for a memory care facility in the Kansas City area.
Looking ahead, Branscumb is particularly interested in healthcare consulting and professional training. She hopes to leverage her experience with utilization management, patient access, revenue cycle processes, and healthcare technology to help hospitals and clinics implement, understand, and optimize the systems they rely on every day. Her long-term vision includes potentially working as an independent consultant and trainer, sharing her knowledge with healthcare organizations while helping improve operational efficiency, staff understanding, and the overall delivery of healthcare services.
